Artist's Comments

This took me FOREVER. It was an assignment for my Painting II class. Done in acrylics on canvas. About 3 ft x 2 ft? maybe? But I am very proud of how it came out.. my first experience with lots of fur.

A big thank you to *KsenKAT for letting me use her fantastic photograph as a reference. Check it out here: [link]

Beautiful!! Great job with the fur!
Lions are a little easier to paint being that their fur
is shorter and closer to the skin so you can treat it more
with value and form. Doing a tiger or a dog of some kind
it more tedious.
Thank you so much!!
& that's exactly why I picked a lion.. well, that and I wuv them so.

Thank you so much!! I really appreciate it. The fur was a challenge, but it really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.. :P

WOW! This is so amazing! It looks so much like the photo! I really love how strongly you captured the eyes. And the fur looks fabulous especially on the neck area. Just gorgeous, thank you for using my work to make something so beautiful.

I'm scratching at the surface now
And I'm trying hard to work it out
Thanks so much!! There are a few areas in which I wish I could have portrayed the picture in a better way, but I am very proud of it and am incredibly lucky to have found a wonderful picture in which I could use as reference.

Seriously, I think it's one of my most favorite photos ever.
